Okay! So the (totally optional!) plot is starting! Bruce's network post here kicks it off.

I'm thinking we can build the characters going more and more haywire for two IC days, and then at the start of Day 196, I'll do another post with the orb kind of exploding. The characters will be most affected by the orb/its explosion for 1 IC day at least, but you can go a little longer if it fits your schedule. Madness and mayhem!

Characters will start disappearing on Day 197 for varying lengths of time (hours, IC days, etc.). They'll come back acting normally, but they may have had some memories altered. You can erase some time from the game, or you can take this opportunity to do a canon update (or regress!). Maybe they can forget certain characters in-game or from home (which could be temporary or not, up to you).

You can give them some physical symptoms too if you want! Headaches, hangover-like symptoms, maybe their blood has a greenish tint for a little while. idk idc the point is have fun while making your characters suffer!

So, dates:
Days 194-195 (May 18-23): characters increasingly acting off
Day 196 (May 24): an explosion, characters at the height of their weirdness
Day 197 (May 27): characters can start to disappear and return, but this can spill over into the next few IC days, too.

Use this post to plot!

We've organized the teams for the sea monster plot, which will take place on Day 102 (Aug. 15-17). We ended up with five people being kidnapped, and they each have a set group of rescuers. ICly, the characters can either happen to team up with whoever they wind up standing next to/swimming next to, or they can make a plan beforehand and swim out, or whatever you like, really.

The sea monster: We're leaving control of the monster's tentacles to you guys in your individual threads, so please note the following information. The head and main body will be far back from the action, and the monster will fiercely protect itself if anyone goes after its head. You can try, but ultimately you'll only be able to free your victim. One of the reasons this is possible is that the monster is capable of severely poisoning anyone, resulting in paralysis if the monster is angry enough. This poison would affect all characters, regardless of healing powers or immunities. Other potential injuries are what you'd expect from being squeezed by strong tentacles that have sharp ridges here and there.

Kidnappee: Riley
Rescuers: Balthazar*, Meyer, Derek
*Not sure if he was officially volunteered; it's okay if not, we can take him out!

Kidnappee: Charles
Rescuers: Erik, Clint

Kidnappee: Alec
Rescuers: Raphael, Samandriel

Kidnappee: Shiala
Rescuers: Dean, Jo

Kidnappee: Donna
Rescuers: Wallie, The Doctor, Castiel

Remember that character death is a distinct possibility, and you're welcome to it if you want to go there. Please use the comments below for plotting with your team, or plurk, etc.

Today is the start of the blackout event! For the rest of Day 100 (Aug. 9-11), the communicators will not function at all, and there is no power in the village.

After Day 100, there will still be no power to the houses, but the communicators will come back spottily, sometimes working, sometimes not, and cutting in-and-out in general. It's up to you when your characters' messages don't go through or when they get cut off abruptly and how often, but be aware that it will happen enough to be frustrating.

The power will be out at least through Day 102 (Aug. 15-17), as that's the day the sea monster attacks because the device keeping it in check has been without power too. We'll announce the teams tomorrow!

First, a little housekeeping! You may have noticed that we no longer have a cap on reserves. We may reinstate it if things get overwhelming, but until then, it will stay without a cap.

Next, Rachelle will be stepping up to help mod even after the summer and we are going to be looking for some help. Please head over here if you’re interested in helping us keep lists updated, playing NPCs or doing any graphic stuff. (If you already filled it out and are still interested, we’ve added one more question, so please fill that out. We still have your old answers and you don’t have to give those again unless the answer has changed.)

We have some very exciting changes coming, including the characters finally being able to leave the Cape.

Before any of that, we have a little double-event for you all!

On Day 100 (August 9-11), the power is going out on the entire Cape! The first day, the communicators will cease to function. After that, they will be spotty, working for some people and not for others, cutting off and generally being in-and-out. The rest of the power will remain off, even after the communicators come back.

Unfortunately, power is also being cut to the device that kept the sea monster at bay. On Day 102, he is going to be grabbing 1 or 2 lucky characters and dragging them under with his terrifying tentacles.

So! We are looking for 1-2 volunteers to have their characters kidnapped. We’re also looking for any number of rescuers. This is a prime situation for some delightful character injury or even death. Depending on how many rescuers we get, we will split people into groups so that threads don’t get too crowded.

(And one last note: If you need us for something, please contact us directly through email, PM or private plurk.)

HI!

So, in among all our new arrivals (*waves*) Brigid is going to be having some werewolf trouble.

This is absolutely open for newcomers and anyone else alike.

There are some loose plans for certain people (Derek, Riley, Raphael, Charlie) to be involved. However, if you'd like to jump in, for any reason, there is open log

I put in a few subheadings, for people who expressed interest. Anyone else? Feel free to jump in. Just put a date/time in the subject heading. I will gladly answer any and all questions!

I can be reached here, by AIM (LadyFoxstone) or on Plurk (errantwritings).

Day 75, I know some people have posted for the day already, but in the late afternoon/evening will be the escape. I'll post the log sometime tomorrow.

I know some people aren't participating, which is totally fine, just... every character is going to notice something given you can't exactly ignore gigantic explosions and shit getting real. Feel free to log it out!

The barrier to Kore is going to be ripped apart briefly with the Doctor's generator/particle accelerator, thanks to Jubilee's powers. What does this mean for your character?

Hello! So, I was talking with Komix (Raphael-mun) when he visited me, and realized I could bring a small plot to Kore. So, here I am!

In Teen Wolf - for those unfamiliar - it's stated that Omegas are rare, generally insane, and unwelcome.

Brigid was drawn here on day 44, it's now day 70. That's almost 30 days away from her pack, and the steadying influence of her Alpha.

In other words, the Kore "forced" her to go Omega. Especially since she's very indoctrinated to having a pack and an Alpha she has to answer to.

What this means is that starting very late in the evening on Day 70, Brigid is going to start getting testy. Instead of backing down (like she does now) she'll challenge a bit more and not be so much of a doormat.

This will go on for a while.

Now, I'm playing fast and loose with the end game. (Because it depends on apps and if a certain one gets accepted)

On Day 84, the day of the full moon, Brigid will attack someone. Komix and I worked it out that Raphael will put her down and make her sleep. (He's the big bad Alpha in this case. :P ) I would like a volunteer for this. This person is going to get hurt, but will not change into a werewolf, because Brigid is not an Alpha and cannot do that. Aren't you lucky?

During the next fourteen game days, she'll start getting a shorter and shorter temper. She'll lose control of "the wolf" and her eyes will flash blue, she'll claw random things, and will be very easily provoked. Brigid will be doing things to counteract it! Prayer, running, hunting, and even beating the hell out of trees until her hands are bloody (Sorry Ivy). She'll also seek out the company of those that she feels are stronger than her. (Angels? Wanna step up? Also: Hulk, the Doctor... if you think she should have smelled the power your character is capable of, feel free to ping me here/on Plurk.)

Note: This is subject to change, depending on apps.

If you want negative CR with Brigid, fighting CR, anything, I'm open to all of it. Gimme!

I'm also willing for her to be outed as a werewolf to some, so, if you want that to happen, let's plot it out!

The Doctor has asked Dilandau to create a distraction for him when he's ready to activate his escape machine. However, Dilandau can't do this on his own! Once the Doctor gives him a timeframe he'll be recruiting for people to help. Be prepared for a shock, ladies and gents, when Dilandau demonstrates what a charismatic leader he can be.

This is the plan he'll come up with:

The distraction plan can come in two phases. Plan 1 is the one all members joining would know about. Plan 2, the end stage, will only be known about by those pulling it off. This way the distraction also draws the attention of most of the prisoners, making them less likely to investigate his true plan and draw attention to it for their captors to see.

Plan 1.
River Tam told Dilandau that there are remotely controlled metal bears in the woods used to keep everyone from escaping. They'll be powerful enough to deal with the strongest of the prisoners, because who'd be stupid enough to build a prison too weak for your captives?

a. Does anyone have information about these bears? He'll ask on the network first.

b. How far do they let the prisoners roam? Recruit and send out scouts

c. What are their capabilities? Have a fairly powerful scout challenge one and film it. Collect info from them after if they survive.

d. How near to the prison can the bears be lured? Once a rough idea of their capabilities is obtained, start to provoke them and have swift scouts flee.

e. Can a bear be captured? Have a  number of traps constructed at the limits they can be lured to, in the hopes that at least one will be captured.

For this plan he'll be looking for scouts to spy, for someone at the upper limit of the collective Kore endurance to challenge a bear, and for people who either know how to build traps or can follow instructions to build them.

The desired outcome of this known plan would be to draw all of the attention of their captors onto the woodlands and to provide intel.

The secret part of the plan will go far further than this.  If the Doctor succeeds, knowing about the bears is unnecessary. However, they and any other reinforcements need to be prevented from coming through the woods, so a formidable barrier needs to be constructed.

The secret plan is:

a. Have a contingent within the scouts set up deadwood, gasoline tanks and other flammable materials in the zone between where the bears attack and where the bears will follow to.

b. Lure the bears as far as they will go,

c BURN THE FOREST

d. BURN THE BEARS

e. BURN IT ALL

f. BURNBURNBURNBURNBURN

g. Escape with the Doctor, laughing at the destruction of their enemies.

Steps c-f will be foiled by Castiel, who doesn't appreciate the inevitable body count.

For the secret plan Dilandau will be looking for people with pyro abilities or with a penchant for burning things. This plan won't be talked about over the network or out loud. Recruits will be contacted via Charles Xavier's telepathic powers.

If you want to join in part 2, your character will either need to tell Xavier about their abilities or show them off in front of Dilandau.

Castiel's intervention will come in either one of two ways. Either he'll spot the fires in progress and put them all out, or one of the recruited pyros will have enough misgivings to alert him to the plan before time, so he can deal with the perpetrators directly.

So, does anyone want to join in? Got any suggestions/crit?

Soooo this is a plot I've personally been dying to play since I've been playing the Doctor and our gracious mods have given me the OK to do it here at Kore! Ladies and gentlemen, meet the Time Lord Victorious.

For those unfamiliar with Doctor Who canon, here's a badass fanvid...(TL;DR: The Doctor grows a bit mad with power and an ego bigger than the universe.)

The Doctor's friends might start noticing him growing more serious/obsessive with his project within the next few days. What's he building? A generator, clunky and ugly at best, but it'll do the job. When the application round starts kicking in and depending who from his canon shows up, he'll be pushed over the edge into Time Lord Victorious (good luck trying to calm him down), completely obsessed with bursting through the barrier to Kore, kicking on the generator, and maaaaaaaybe ripping a small hole in time.

What does this entail for your character? The Doctor is already formulating a plan thanks to those who replied to his last post: Perhaps Dilandau forming a team to create a distraction for the scientists, while he takes care of things on his end.

Good luck, Kore-ites. You might get a glimpse of home, maybe even GO home if this plan works. Of course it won't.

Tuesday April 16th is our six month anniversary of this game and we have a little something for you. Some players may remember the NPC, Maggie, a young woman who has mysteriously been at the center of every earthquake. Things have been quiet on that front and at the height of this current event, we are looking for a few volunteers to find her body before the end of the plot. (There may be more than one piece to find.)

Please don't volunteer if you won't be able to post before the event is over in realtime. Ideally posts for this should happen around Tuesday so that there are a few days of the event to play with it before the situation... expires. We are ideally looking for characters who would make a big deal of it, rather than hiding it, and share the information over the network. We can have an NPC step in and announce it, but we'd rather give the opportunity to players first.

The current event (species swap) will end at the end of day 63, the 22nd. This brings the event to six game days total.

It's started. At 12:01am of day 58, no matter where they were or what they were doing, everyone fell asleep. Whenever they decide to wake up, your character might realize that they've changed. Some will be more noticeable than others and some might not have even changed at all.

Plotting/info post is right here for those of you that need it. As always, feel free to ask us any questions.

Go crazy, Cape Kore. Enjoy your new bodies.

Did someone say plots?!

We thought we'd shake things up a little around here. No, it's not another mysterious earthquake. It's the event you've all been waiting for! The long-anticipated species swap!

On day 58 (Friday, April 5th) your character will wake up as a completely different species! Get creative! Pull from other canons or mythology. There are lots of different species to choose from and many subspecies within those categories. Here are a few guidelines to help you out:

- The species you choose must be able to operate the wrist communication device. Turning into animals isn't really an option as your character still needs to communicate with other characters.
- Non-human characters CAN turn human!
- Special abilities your character has will not carry over through the species swap, but they will gain any abilities of the new species.
- The change will happen to everyone at the same time (12:00am of day 58)
- You may choose a species not currently found in Kore.
- There is no limit to how many people pick the same species.
- Characters still cannot leave, regardless of their new abilities.
- You must establish ooc conversation before using abilities on anyone in game.
- Abilities will taper off if characters get too close to the edge of the cape, as they always have

We encourage everyone to participate, but if you would like to opt out, you can. Please feel free to use this post to ask questions, plot with people, or run tentative choices by us if you're unsure about something.

The food situation is looking quite grim. NPC Edgar Stane has been in charge of rationing out the remaining supplies to those of you that weren't smart enough to stock up on your own, but those remaining supplies are running out pretty fast. Fear not, Cape Kore! Someone up there is feeling mighty generous right about now.

At the end of day 42, a gift will be given. Sometime that evening, a large pyramid of metal crates will fall from the sky, tied together with thick ropes. It will land in the park, not far from the gazebo. Inside the crates are many valuable items, some luxury items, and a few nasty surprises.

There is food in the crates, but none of it is meat. A lot of it is various canned items; veggies, fruit, sauces, etc. There are limited quantities of snack food (try to keep it one item per household). The rest is up to the players! The prize your character wants could be in any one of these crates! As long as it's nothing electronic or high-tech! If you're not sure, ask! Definitely use this post as a plotting post.

And keep in mind that there are some dangerous things mixed up in there, too. Your characters have the option of finding poisonous snakes, venomous spiders, knock out gas, or potentially something you suggest here! Let's customize this mayhem and tailor it to your preferred level of character torture. If you want your character to stumble onto one of these not-so-awesome surprises on their quest to get something good, let us know here so we can either npc it for you in the log or handwave and make a note!

Please, please, please ask questions if this information isn't clear enough. You can also PM the mods via their character journals or private plurk if necessary!

The log will be posted tomorrow.

Good luck.

So we are kicking off the end of the hallucination plot with a bang. In the middle of day 38 (which starts today), the town will be shaken by yet another earthquake. Anyone close to the park may even hear a piercing scream and may recognize the voice to be the wonderful NPC, Maggie, though anyone who goes to investigate will find that she's nowhere to be found for the next few hours. There will be no new structural damage to any of the buildings this time (the poor girl had the whole diner fall on her already), but things will definitely fall over and break.

During the tremors and aftershocks, another NPC, Maria Smith, who has also been seen around the town, especially in the company of the "Mayor" Edgar Stane, is going to be making a network post that I will be putting up shortly. I encourage you to backtag it, even if you don't have time at present, if your character would press the issue with her, because you will not be seeing her again. Here is the list of all NPCs present from the start of the game for your reference.

After the earthquake on day 38, the hallucinations will stat to ebb away and there will be a few bodies showing up in the next few days. (Details to follow) At the close of this plot, we will be putting up a plotting meme.

Weather-wise, the snow is gone, but it's still cold as balls and the ground is frozen at night.

Also as a reminder, please remember that if you are warning for something to put the warning above the cut and not as cut text. Many people track the community through email and go straight from their email to the entire entry and it's best to cover all bases in that regard.

Lastly, [personal profile] app_this_plz was this past weekend. If you have friends who you think would be a good fit for this game, encourage them to check it out.

Surprise! Someone wasn't happy with that little escape attempt. Punishment is most certainly due.

On day 33 in game, this Sunday real time, an airborne hallucinogen will be released into the environment. This is a slow-acting drug will not produce a sudden or noticeable change. The event will run from day 33 until day 39 with the symptoms increasing daily to the player's discretion. It will affect all characters to varying degrees.

The hallucinations can be entirely in a character's head or a modification of reality (IE: visual or auditory hallucinations where nothing is actually visible or being said vs. Mistaking someone's face for a different one entirely and hearing different words than the ones actually being spoken.) Everyone will be increasingly paranoid/agitated as time goes on. Day one, no one will really notice. Day two, something might be just slightly off. Day three, it continues to get noticeably worse. Etc. Characters with computer brain-components will experience some brain scrambling that will have similar effects to the drug.

WILL MY CHARACTER REALIZE THEY ARE DRUGGED? The drug is slow-acting and designed to keep their minds focused on other things, such as their own paranoia. Only characters experienced in heavy drugs, especially hallucinogens, will really catch onto being drugged all that quickly. Characters who drink heavily do not fall under this.

Any other questions or comments can be posted here.

We have a few things!

Optional Scary Christmas plot
Characters will find unlabeled brown paper packages in their living spaces in the next few days. They will contain mundane items, such as shoes, sweaters or hats. If a character opens one of these, they will be affected by any number of things that you can choose from.

Options include:
-Temporary love spells (the kind that are obsessive and awful for everyone involved, of course!)
-A phantom pet that only they can see that will do extreme damage and try to hurt people around them
-Temporary sense loss (Your choice)

These boxes will be around until they are opened, so if you are busy now, but want to play with one of these options later, your character can find it whenever you like! Have fun with it!

New Mod!
Please welcome the wonderful Blissy as your newest mod! We are very excited to have her on board. Please be patient as she gets the hang of everything. We are confident that she will do a totally awesome job here.

In the meantime, enjoy the snow and enjoy the secret santa plot! We will have a more encompassing plot once the new year passes.

Okay, people. Sharon has wanted to gather all their forces and try to escape, launching a concentrated effort through the woods (since they don't really have boats for a water attack and no one's found anything underground).

I've talked to some people about it, but now I'm opening it up and trying to put this plot in the queue.

Would anyone be interested in joining the attempt? Your characters wouldn't have much warning, because Sharon doesn't want the captors to be any more prepared than they already are. And to make this absolutely clear, this attempt will completely fail. No chance that it won't. People will get hurt. Probably badly. It might be more than hurt. We'll see.

After those dire warnings there, if people are still interested, when would people be available for this in real time? I know we've got the holidays coming up, but with family obligations and holiday stuff and all, that might not mean much.
